# Allow images from URLs as Gallery cover images

Currently, Gallery View only allows File fields to be used as cover images. This means that an image has to be uploaded to Baserow before it can be displayed as a gallery cover.
It would be very useful if URL fields containing a direct image URL could also be selected as cover fields.
Many of our images are stored in a DAM system. Having to download and re-upload them to Baserow creates unnecessary duplication.
Ideally, Gallery View could simply render the image from the URL, while keeping the current File field option unchanged.

We can’t say for sure, as priorities can change constantly. Even if the feature is accepted and added to the shortlist, we don’t usually provide ETAs unless the feature is already in development. 🙂

Hey @Mary-Lou, I discussed this with the team, and unfortunately, we won’t be able to implement this due to security concerns. Loading external images directly from URLs in Gallery view could introduce security risks, so we won’t be moving forward with this request. Thanks for understanding! 🙌
