# Duplicate data in primary key column

### Are you using our SaaS platform ([Baserow.io](http://Baserow.io)) or self-hosting Baserow?

Self-hosted

### What do you need help with?

Create a table. It appears that the primary key for the table is already set by Baserow. Now, using a form add a new record to that table that duplicates an existing value that is in the primary key column. The duplicate will be created. As it is the primary key, shouldn’t there be a constraint on creating identical values? How is it a primary key if this is allowed?

This is a [Primary field](https://baserow.io/user-docs/primary-field), not a Primary key, and it goes with the [Row ID](https://baserow.io/user-docs/overview-of-rows#what-is-a-row-identifier).
