### Are you using our SaaS platform ([Baserow.io](http://Baserow.io)) or self-hosting Baserow?

SaaS

### What do you need help with?

Coming from Airtable, ran into an issue in the first few minutes.

I have numbers with leading 0 (zero), our SKUs are starting with 0001
Product barcodes often start with 0 too.

In Airtable there is a field type Barcode that preserves the leading 0.

When I use the number type of field the 0 is deleted.

How do I handle this in Baserow?

Hey @Weasel, we have this issue in the pipeline: [Barcode field (#472) · Issues · Baserow / baserow · GitLab](https://gitlab.com/baserow/baserow/-/issues/472) 🙂

Would it work for you if you changed the Number field to a Text field? This way, SKUs/barcodes will remain exactly as typed.

I also recommend checking this thread: [Spare parts stock database with app - is it doable?](https://community.baserow.io/t/spare-parts-stock-database-with-app-is-it-doable/5869).

Is this still in the works?
Would really love to have it. 😇

Hey @Weasel, yes, this is still planned, but I’m afraid it’s not a high priority at the moment.

That said, I’ll double-check and let you know for sure.

Hey @Weasel, I checked with the team, and we still plan to add a Barcode field to Baserow. However, it’s a low-priority request for us, so we can’t say yet when we’ll start working on it. Hope for your understanding! 🙌
