Show formula and/or Lookup fields in the form

Are you using our SaaS platform (Baserow.io) or self-hosting Baserow?

What do you need help with?

Hi,
so there is no way in showing content of LookUps &/or formulas in the normal forms builder in the table? Why is it so?

Use case: Show the user data which exists in the table and in the row while doing the input within the form.

This takes away a lot of possible use cases which would make the form really usefull. Are there any plans to make this happen in near future?

Thanks,

Hey @moonday, I’ll check with the technical team to see if this is planned and get back to you.

Hi, any news or insights on this?

Hey @moonday, I haven’t discussed it yet. I have a call in two weeks, so I’ll likely have an update afterwards. :raised_hands:

Hey @moonday, I have an update on this request. Currently, we don’t plan to add formula/lookup support for the form view, as it would be a huge task from a technical perspective.

Have you tried using the Application Builder? The form element works a bit differently, but it does support formulas on the frontend.

Hey @olgatrykush thank you for the feedback & contentwise this is really sad to read.

The form in the app builder comes with a lot more effort to built & handle.

For me, I still don’t understand why there are 2 different form approaches.

On top, it seems like I even don’t have a stressfree/native way to include existing forms - into the application builder.

But thanks for checking & the feedback.

Hey @moonday, we understand your use case, and we’re sorry that Baserow can’t currently fulfill it in the easiest possible way. You can embed the Baserow form view in the application builder, but unfortunately you still can’t work with formulas there.

If we see more people asking for this, we’ll definitely raise it again with the team.
