AI features missing in Baserow on TrueNAS SCALE

Are you using our SaaS platform (Baserow.io) or self-hosting Baserow?

Self-hosted

If you are self-hosting, what version of Baserow are you running?

Version 2.0.1

If you are self-hosting, which installation method do you use to run Baserow?

The official iX Systems app on TrueNAS SCALE (from the Apps catalog).

What are the exact steps to reproduce this issue?

Hi everyone,

We previously ran Baserow v1 via Docker and recently switched to the official iX Systems app on TrueNAS SCALE. The installation works fine, but none of the new AI features appear in the interface: no AI fields, no Generative AI menu, no Ollama/Kuma configuration/access, etc.

The only AI-related element that shows up, and which didn’t exist in our older Docker setup, is the MCP server option in Settings. We also tried enabling the recommended environment variables for AI, but the UI remains the same.

Is this expected behaviour for the TrueNAS Scale App version? Does the iX app still ship an older Baserow release without the new AI interface? And if so, is there an app update planned with a specific timeline, or would you recommend using the latest official Docker image to access the AI features?

Thanks in advance,
Diego Ainse

Hi @Diego,

The installation works fine, but none of the new AI features appear in the interface:

  • no AI fields: if you navigate to a database table and try to add a new field, you should see “AI prompt” at the bottom of the list. It’ll be disabled unless you have a premium plan.
  • no Generative AI menu: are you referring to the form where the various provider keys are set? On the dashboard if you click your workspace name → Settings, you will see the “Generative AI settings” modal where you can configure your providers.
  • no Ollama/Kuma configuration/access: Kuma will not appear in the left sidebar until it’s configured. You can find setup steps in docs/installation/ai-assistant.md.

Cheers,
