I want to build an application where text search in multiple languages (Latin and Cyrillic) is the main feature. Does Baserow have a setting a user can toggle to execute either a case sensitive or a case insensitive search? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Hey @Carel_S, firstly, welcome to the Baserow community
We have this open issue to make search accent-insensitive: Make search accent-insensitive · Issue #5411 · baserow/baserow · GitHub.
I’ve also left a comment for the developers to consider adding a toggle that would let users choose between case-sensitive and case-insensitive search.
Hi Olga,
In text search, having the options available to search for accented characters and to toggle between accent sensitive and accent insensitive searches are also important. I don’t know whether Baserow already has implemented a user-definable character sort order, in which the user can indicate where accented characters should end up in the list of hits. This can be implemented as a lookup table or list in which the user can specify whether accented characters end up with the similar unaccented characters. For example é together with the normal e, or at the beginning or end of the list of sorted hits.

Carel.
Thanks Olga, the option to toggle between case sensitive and case insensitive is VITAL for text search and indispensable!!!
It’s not something to consider and should be implemented no matter what.

Carel.
Hi Olga, while on the subject, I remembered there are a few other case forms which are important. Developers use what they call “camel case”.
When these case options for text search are implemented, the text search features in Baserow will be robust and much appreciated by professionals. Once implemented, the developers won’t have to revisit this functionality again and Baserow will be more professional and an Industry-strength application.
See the attached screen shot from MS Word for the available case options.

Carel.
Hey @Carel_S, thanks! I’ve updated the comment on GitHub so the devs can check the suggestions when they work on that issue.
