I’m used to be able to copy data or import data from for example Excel into Table 1 and automatically create linked records in other tables if they do not exist yet. It seems that this doesn’t work in Baserow. This is one of the features I use the most in Airtable and I’m a bit dissapointed that this doesn’t seem to work in Baserow. I searched a bit, but I only see big work arounds using Make. It would make a lot of sense to add this as a basic feature into Baserow.
This does also work in Baserow. I imagine it is related to the same issue you are having copy and pasting records from excel to a single select.
I am looking into why this is happening.
Or really? That is great! Just to make sure we are on the same page:
For example: I have table 1 called Orders and Table 2 called products.
Both are empty. If I add orders with linked products (that do not exist yet). It will create both the order aswell as the linked product and automatically all other orders with the same product will also be automatically linked.
I’m glad you clarified that further because unfortunately that is not the case.
The record would need to already exist in the linked table for this to work in Baserow. It does not create a missing record automatically if it does not exist.
Then my feedback stands corrected. This is one of my most used features in other apps
I’ve converted the thread into a feature request.
Hey @wilhanz, this request was accepted. We will add functionality to convert copied text into new relations and/or new records in the linked-to table field if it doesn’t exist yet.
