I’m currently using the Baserow Application Builder, and I’ve run into an issue with page load visibility.
The pages can take a while to fully load, and the default loading indicator (the bar at the top of the page) is very subtle and easy to miss. Because of this, users may think the page is broken or not loading at all, and leave before it finishes.
Is there any way to:
Add a custom loading screen or loading image that displays while the page is loading, or
Make the existing loading indicator more noticeable?
Ideally, I’d like something that clearly signals to users that the page is actively loading, especially given the longer load times.
If this isn’t currently possible, are there any workarounds or plans to support this in the future?
Additionally, as a side note, are there any ongoing improvements to Baserow’s performance? I’ve noticed that some pages can take up to a couple of minutes to load, and even pages without any data still take around 30 seconds to fully render.
CSS doesn’t load immediately either, which isn’t ideal. For about 10 seconds, the page displays the unstyled Application Builder layout before the styling is applied.
Hey @Iokaar, the page shouldn’t take 30 seconds to load, so I’d like to understand your setup a bit better. Are you using Baserow SaaS or self-hosting? If you’re self-hosting, how is it set up?
At the moment, my base has around 1,000 rows of data. To troubleshoot performance, I tried limiting the data source to about 4 items to see if that would improve page load speed, but unfortunately, it didn’t make any noticeable difference.
Right now, even images are taking a long time to load. In some cases, the database and application builder itself struggles to load or becomes unresponsive.
To rule out any local connectivity issues, I ran a speed test and I’m getting around 100 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload, so my internet connection seems stable and fast enough.
I’d appreciate any guidance on what could be causing this or what I can try next. At this point, Baserow is becoming unusable for me and my users due to speed/loading issues.
Hello @lokaar,
The slowness you’re experiencing doesn’t seem normal; there may be a configuration error somewhere in your application. Would you be willing to share your application with me privately?
To do this, click on “Home” in the left sidebar, then click on the name of your workspace at the top. A context menu will appear; select “Export Data.” You can download the archive of your workspace, upload it somewhere, and then share the link with me via private message.
