Floating point number format

One thing I use Baserow for is as a way of storing calibration numbers for various products that I’m working on. In general, this works fairly well, but sometimes I find myself wishing there was a better way of storing numbers.

Right now I just set the number format of certain fields to 10 decimal places, but I really wish I could just pick a proper floating point format. It would make everything a lot cleaner, and make me less worried about losing significant digits for really small numbers.

For example:

0.0000045678 vs 4.5678e-06

(Now add a few more leading zeros, and suddenly the fixed point format doesn’t work anymore.)

Hey @dkonigs, thank you for sharing your idea - I’ll make sure to discuss it with the team :raised_hands:

Hey @dkonigs, your request has been accepted! It’s a low-priority one, so we can’t promise it will be released very soon, but thank you for the suggestion! :slightly_smiling_face:
