Hi all,
As my AppBuilder app serves as a frontend to my database, I’m trying to use forms as a main way of entering data.
I have noticed however, that I can’t create new single or multi-select values from within my forms. Is this not possible, or a permissions setting?
If creating new single/multi-select values isn’t possible in forms, I think it should be
thanks,
David
Hey @DavidCeulemans, it’s indeed not possible as it prevents external users from adding new options without your approval. After adding a new value, it will be publicly available immediately to everyone, which can be an issue in some cases.
What I usually do with forms is add an option called ‘Others.’ Then, I add another field that becomes visible only if users select the ‘Others’ option. This way, respondents can add a different value, and you can add it later as a new select option if that makes sense.
Hey @DavidCeulemans, I’ve read your requests again, and now I think you were referring to a different feature. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
Did you mean to be able to add new values from the form builder, like this:
If yes, then this feature request was accepted and we’ll add it.
Hello Olga,
Yes, I indeed meant to allow adding new values from the form builder.
Great to see it will be added sometime.
thanks again,
David.
uhm…
Now I read your reply again , but no, I did mean to allow adding new values from a form (as a user).
As the sole person to add data to my base, adding ‘wrong’ values isn’t an issue, but I understand your initial explanation.
If I recall correctly however, I think that AT allowed this (may have been a setting).
thanks again,
David
hey @DavidCeulemans, sorry for the confusion!
But it might be an issue for other users, so for now, we can’t add this feature, unfortunately.
