Keep rows when changing fieldtype

When there’s a single line text field and it’s being changed to Linked fieldtype, all the rows become empty. Also the other way around from Linked to single line text.

Now I need to do a workaround to re-import data and map that field to the new changed fieldtype which I’d rather avoid.
