I was super exited when the line chart finally came, however I seem to be unable to use it. I’m looking to do a very very simple line chart:
Sum of one column on the Y-axis, dates for each sum, on the X-axis. To see how it’s been growing or decreasing over time.
The “Series” seem to automatically end up on the Y-axis and I guess I’m then forced to use sort and group by to control the X-axis. The problem is that the relevant field (dates) are not visible as an option. (I can’t group by any date field. I’ve made several attempts with user generated fields, in case it’s forbidden to use the “created on” option, but none were successful.)
How about letting the user just choose what value should be on what axis?
Like dates should be possible to bucket by day, week, month, Q and Year

Maybe these things are possible to do, but then I haven’t got a clue how to operate the line chart and charts are usually not a difficult thing for me.
The plan for the future is to add the ability to group by a date field, but that requires implementing some bucketing strategies to deal with different time windows and possibly handeling many groups etc. So this is not yet possible.
The current workaround is to create your own buckets using another field (formula text field) and group values by that. It might not be ideal because of the manual intervention and sorting, but it is worth trying as a temporary workaround.
Okay, and I assume there’s not intention to add support for it either then, like really soon. Cause I’ve kind of stopped using baserow. I used airtable daily before, but without the feedback (meaningful dashboards) I seem to not be motivated to use it very much.
It’s really sad, I moved here since I wanted european data sovereignty, support local business, but this main thing, for me at least, kind of make me want to go back to airtable.
Do you have a date for this function or is it not in the foreseeble future?
Early next year, we’ll have the 2026 roadmap ready, so we’ll have a better understanding of what we want to focus on in the short term. I’ll check with the team to see if we have any estimates or plans for the dashboards. I’ll keep you posted.
