Linking records: Linked records need to appear in both places

So I have some linked records.

In item A’s row, I will insert a linked record to B.

Is it possible to automatically insert the link to Item A in Item B’s link field since they are linked?

Hey @Iokaar, are you asking about the ability to create a related field in a linked table?

I have that option checked, but it is not creating a link to A in B’s row as you can see in my screenshot above.

While it works when linking between tables, it does not work when linking within the same table. I need it to work when linking within the same table.

Hey @Iokaar, apologies for the delay—I missed your message. I see. However, it’s not possible when linking within the same table, as you already see both fields and their relationships.

That’s a shame. I was hoping to display their relationships in the application builder, without manually linking both. When you have a lot of data and items, linking them together is a lot of work.

I am trying to create a user database that anyone can contribute to (even the general public).

Let’s use Legos as an example. I am not using Legos, it’s just an example. You have the standard 4x4 brick. However, there are also thick and thin versions of this 4x4 brick. All these items are in the same table, but I would like to display them in a detailed view like in the screenshot above (images don’t work, which is VERY unfortunate).

Why not just create a separate table for variations? This is going to be a community project. Having a separate table for variations will confuse the end user who may not understand how a variation is classified, so putting everything in the same table is easier.

Right now, I am using Airtable and Pory to achieve this. However, using these two together is very expensive, especially since I have more than 1,000 items and need to upgrade to a paid plan. I am hoping Baserow can eventually catch up in terms of features so I can migrate over to Baserow.
