When I have a “Long Text” field in the Grid view, and I’m not editing that field, there’s no way to tell if the field has a single line of content or multiple lines.
I frequently use this type of field to store a free-form list of notes related to a row, and there’s no easy way to visually scan the grid and know if an item has a single note or multiple notes.
Having some sort of simple “overflow/multi-line-content” indicator badge on the field would be a big usability improvement.
Hey @dkonigs, thanks for the request! We’re leaning towards showing an ellipsis (“…”) to indicate there’s more text — it currently appears only in some cases — rather than adding a badge. We’ll brainstorm this further once someone from the dev team picks up the task.
I think the most important bit is for it to be obvious that the indicator (whatever it is) is not part of the user text content itself and that its easy to know its there at a quick glance. A badge would do that, and an ellipsis could go either way depending on how its rendered.
