What are the exact steps to reproduce this issue?
Hello,
I am experiencing a reproducible issue with the official Project Management / Work Management Platform template on Baserow Cloud.
To make sure the problem was not caused by my configuration, I completely deleted my previous installation of the template and reinstalled it from scratch.
No configuration of the Application Builder, Data Sources, User Sources, forms or actions was modified after reinstalling the template.
The only change I made was to replace the email address and password of an existing record in the Users table so that I could log into the application.
Authentication itself works correctly. However, once logged in, the application repeatedly displays:
Unexpected error
Failed to load “Users”: An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later.
Details:
You are not allowed to use this user source to authenticate
The issue is reproducible immediately on the freshly installed official template.
Interestingly, on the Add task page, the Assignee and Reviewer record se
Attach screenshots, videos, or logs that demonstrate the issue.
Additional information after further testing
I have now installed a second official Baserow template, Task Management, as a completely separate fresh installation.
I did not modify its Application Builder configuration, Data Sources or User Source configuration.
The second template reproduces exactly the same error:
Failed to load "Users": An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later.
Details:
You are not allowed to use this user source to authenticate
This means the issue does not appear to be specific to the Project Management template, as I can reproduce it with at least two separate official Baserow templates using User Source authentication on the same Baserow Cloud workspace.
I have attached a screenshot showing the same error occurring in the second freshly installed template.
I have left both installations unchanged so they can be used for further troubleshooting if needed.
Hi @aurelie.s,
Thanks for the detailed report, and for keeping both installations around. That helps a lot.
We looked into it and the templates themselves look fine. A fresh install of Project Management works for us after logging in, whether we use it in the editor, through Preview or published. One detail stood out, though. In your Task Management test the
error still says “Failed to load ‘Users’”, but Task Management doesn’t have anything called “Users”. Its login uses “Staff”. That suggests the browser is mixing up the login of one app with the other.
To help us track it down, could you tell us:
- Where you see the error: in the editor, in the Preview tab, or on a published site? Please include the URL shown in your browser’s address bar.
- Whether you had both apps open in separate tabs at the same time.
- Whether the error still appears in a private/incognito window, logging into only one app.
- If you can, open your browser’s developer tools (F12) → Network tab, reproduce the error, and send us the URL of the request that fails (it will be shown in red, status 401).
In the meantime, logging out of the app, closing the other app’s tabs and logging in again may work around it.
Thanks again, we’ll follow up as soon as we hear back.
