Poorly communicated price increase

I am not sure if this is the right category to post this in. So please move it where it is appropriate.

But I feel that your hefty, up to 240% price increase was poorly communicated. I found out when I looked at my statement and so did two of my customers. I could not find an email about it, nor in the announcement section here in the forum. What I did find was this blog post from 8 days ago (and all this in the middle of the summer holidays).

So what I am not saying (or at least that is a different discussion) is that Baserow does not deserve a price increase for what it provides.

My issues are:

  1. the short term (8 days)
  2. the scarcity/passivity of the communication channels (just blog)
  3. the timing (Middle of summer)

Perhaps I am wrong and this was well communicated and I just missed it. Then please let me know what I can do to avoid missing such important updates. And where I can find the documentation on this process.

And if I may add a bit of my gut feeling here: I really hope this is more or less just an oversight and not what I (maybe we?) can expect in future communication from you? I love Baserow and would love to do more and bigger projects with it.

Hi @icegorilla, I’m so sorry that the price increase came as a surprise to you.

We’ve initially announced the price increase via email to all our paying users early June. I’ve checked, but it doesn’t seem like it was sent to you. This might be because you’ve unsubscribed from our master contact list about 9 months ago. I’m not sure how that system works, but it could be that you were excluded because of that reason. @HiramFromTheChi do you know why that is?

After that first email, we’ve shared another one closer to the date, and we announced it to all our other users in the form of a blog post a day before the price increase.

@HiramFromTheChi can you help @icegorilla to resubscribe to the master list so that he will receive communication from us in the future?

thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Yeah, it would be great if I am can get back on that list. I tend to unsubcribe from regular newsletters, but this kind of change is a bit more relevant. :slight_smile: Perhaps I was not the only one with this issue?
