Published app: pages after a page with "?" in its path stop working (2.3.3)

Hi everyone,

we ran into something confusing in the application builder that turned out to have a very simple cause — posting it here in case it saves someone else the troubleshooting time.

In one of our published apps, the pages further down the page list suddenly stopped working — the browser just showed a server error (500). At first it looked like some kind of page limit (“once you have more than X pages, the last ones break”), because it only depended on the position in the list, not on the pages themselves. Even addresses that don’t exist returned a 500 instead of the usual “not found” page, which was our first real hint that it wasn’t about the page count.

The cause: One of our pages had a ? at the end of its path — most likely a typo on our side when the page was created. Nothing complained when saving or publishing. As soon as we removed the ? and republished, everything worked again, including proper 404s.

The error message on the broken pages was always the same:

Unexpected ? at index 10, expected end: some-page?

To reproduce: create a page whose path contains a ?, publish the app, then open any page that sits below it in the page list.

We’re on self-hosted 2.3.3; from a quick look, 2.3.4 seems to behave the same. Not sure if this is already known — happy to provide more details if that helps.

Nice find, thanks for sharing :waving_hand:

Thanks for sharing this. That ? in the page path is an easy thing to miss, especially when the app still allows you to save and publish. This is a very useful troubleshooting tip for anyone working with Baserow Application Builder.

I also work with Baserow databases and application setup, so I’ll definitely keep this in mind when checking 500 errors and broken routes. Glad you found the cause and got it working again.
