I’ve been testing Self-Hosted Baserow on the Premium plan for a month now, and it’s truly an amazing product. However, I’ve noticed that despite the open-source philosophy, the functionality feels somewhat limited for solo users or small teams.
As someone who also uses paid plans on Notion and Coda, I see some differences that could impact small businesses. For instance, even with a Premium subscription, I can’t give clients read-only access, and there’s no way for clients to comment or see my comment on rows. When I inquired about this, I received an Enterprise offer at $4200 per year — a steep price for a small business. This amount could fund several, actually 7-10 years of Airtable use for my needs.
I’m ready to support Baserow and am curious if there are ideas or plans to make it more accessible for small companies with limited budgets to work with read-only commentors. Lower-cost options would open up more opportunities for smaller teams who would love to benefit from Baserow’s capabilities.
Thanks for your consideration!

I am in the same boat. I would like to use baserow for a small non-profit I volunteer at. Our only option right now is either 50% discounted Airtable or free Baserow tier with limitations.

Hey @DarkPower, getting back to you on this. Due to how our subscription plans work, it would be technically very difficult to introduce new roles for the Premium plan. For now, we only plan to look into adding this feature: Prevent users from deleting table and/or database (#2243) · Issues · Baserow / baserow · GitLab. Technically, it is a big change, but we plan to look into it.
Hope for your understanding!
Dear Olga, thank you for feedback!
Hi @olgatrykush, reactivating this thread.
My nonprofit supports other nonprofits on data and I often encourage them to use Baserow instead of Sheets/Airtable/Trello, etc. An issue I have is that some of them would benefit from having the paid plan, but I’m unable to tell them what the nonprofit discount is, so they keep using the free plan and pay for Airtable/Trello.
I’ve emailed sales multiple times asking for this info without ever hearing back.
I’ve also enquired about a special discount for myself, so that I can showcase the paid features of Baserow on the dbs I build without having to buy a month subscription for each workspace. This would translate to sales for Baserow.
Because of this, I’ve now started building dbs on both Baserow and NocoDB when showcasing, as the latter has similar features and responsive sales. I’m onboarding a new client, and considering just going with NocoDB from now on. Can you get me a contact from sales? Thanks, and sorry if frustrated!

I think it might be a good time for Baserow to start thinking a little more about pricing and how you want to position yourself against all the competition. I know this is a tricky topic. I am enjoying using Baserow, especially exploring the App Builder, and can see great potential, but the end of the day we are all constrained by our budgets, so it would be good to get a clear roadmap of pricing plans, both for the db and app builder. I too am building out apps for non-for-profits and that makes my needs very price sensitive. I’d like to deploy on Baserow, but some certainty on future pricing and how it might be applied (as in, what are the mechanics for determining billing of users in a App for example, read only users v’s edit users, etc) is now becoming important to make the decision to invest more time, or consider alternatives.
I know supporting non-profits is in general not so great for the bottom line, but I think there is still a strong strategic niche you could carve out if you get the cost model right for these smaller customers.
Hey @trapeze6174, apologies for not getting back to you with your requests. Could you please share your email address with me via private message so I can look up your request and ping the sales team?
I see, there aren’t any upcoming changes planned for the Database Builder. Regarding the Application Builder, we’ll announce the pricing once it’s confirmed. We understand the importance of informing users well in advance—that’s why we shared our initial thoughts in this thread.

To have this info somewhere in case another nonprofit looks for it: I’ve been told the nonprofit discount is the yearly Enterprise plan for 20$/user/month (vs 35$), with 10 users minimum.
