Unable to publish site to Baserow Domain

Hello,

I am trying to get a application published for an internal system using the Baserow.site subdomain, The actual database itself is not self-hosted, instead its hosted on the free plan of baserow (Which come to think of it might be the reason I can’t get it to show up when published)

What happens is that the site will publish successfully, however when I go to open the site it comes up with the sites URL with an error “Page Not Found” followed by “The page you are looking for has not been found. This might be because URL is incorrect or that you don’t have permission to view this page.”

I might be missing a setting I need to change as I am quite new to Baserow, still learning the tool, but I am unsure what is causing it to not show up when published.

If anymore information is needed please let me know, I am not quite sure what else to write.

Hello @Backslash,

Do you have a “homepage” with a path of /? When you publish an application and navigate to it, it’ll by default attempt to find a page with a path of /. If one doesn’t exist, then a 404 will be shown.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter, I will be honest with you, I feel like a bit of an idiot right now.

Turns out that was exactly the problem, I had no homepage set, so it was just navigating to nothing. Thanks for your reply though! And I also appreciate the help.

Hi @Backslash, no problem at all.

It’s a legitimate issue. You found a UX problem that we’d love to address: #2530.

Hopefully, in the future we can improve it in two ways:

  1. When someone publishes an application, we’ll warn them if they don’t have a homepage.
  2. We’ll ensure that when a user publishes with a specific page open in the editor, we’ll open that page first.

Cheers,
Peter
